Modern cocoon

Agency Lijncom literally gets brands moving on the streets – in the form of mobile advertising on buses and trams. The company’s now revamped its brand identity and moved its office premises into a building outside Ghent where a modern extension has been added to the old structure.

To tie in with the agency’s new brand image, the old building’s been given a contemporary make-over: a black block that plays with architectural contrasts was added to the historical red brick building in the borough of Melle. Art Nivo designed the modern office interior.

Lijncom’s new brand values underpinned the interior design of the space, which stands apart for its light-filled, open-plan and modern atmosphere. The main colour scheme features shades of white, grey and pink with black elements as accents. Wilkhahn’s IN office task chairs stand out and their dynamic shape and characteristic cross on the backrest ensure flexibility at all levels. They can be moved from table to table, positioned in groups for meetings or on their own at a desk – and their free-to-move kinematics encourage users to engage in dynamic sitting.

As a result, the chairs tally with the company’s concept of an office environment that responds to the requirements of agile styles of working. The classic workspaces are complemented by corners where meetings can be held, islands and rooms for a particular purpose; the idea is for customers, suppliers and partners to immediately feel welcome when they come to visit. It’s a consistent concept, dubbed a “modern cocoon” by the designers themselves, which combines old and new – and has “given the building a soul”.
