In 1986 design experts brought the Designers Saturday concept from New York to Oslo. Since then the event has taken place every two years. What makes it so special is that Designers Saturday isn’t a closed event in one place at some distance from where day-to-day life takes place, but an affair that’s open to all professionals and people interested in design in the heart of the city. From 8 to 10 September this year, over 180 exhibitors from all over the world will be presenting their products and innovations from the interiors, furniture and design segments at 12 selected sites. These can be viewed on foot, by bike or by taking the free shuttle bus.
Some of the highlights are the official opening on Friday at Havnelageret, Oslo’s erstwhile port warehouse, as well as the Saturday Night Street Party in the Tjuvholmen neighbourhood, a former wharf that was redesigned by famous architects like Renzo Piano.
In Oslo, Wilkhahn will be premiering three new products in Scandinavia: the Occo and Metrik ranges, as well as the latest innovation, the mAx folding table.
