As of immediate effect, Hanover’s Hafven is the place for be for all movers and shakers wishing to be part of a visionary community driven by the principles of industry 4.0 and digitalisation. The idea behind the privately funded project is not just to give knowledge workers access to infrastructure, but tradespeople too. A new build was designed for the purpose by Mensing Timofticiuc Architects and is situated in Hanover’s Nordstadt neighbourhood. The vast rooms take into account the diverse range of usages. While the building’s exterior with its narrow continuous vertical windows and dark concrete facade appears somewhat sober, the interior with its bright exposed concrete and windows to the light-flooded courtyard invites people to linger.
Hafven opened its doors as a work in progress. Consequently, nobody moved into a prefabricated environment. Spaces are designed collaboratively with the range of different requirements in mind. And this innovative concept has the flexible furniture to match. Wilkhahn provided the classic task chair from the FS-Line and three-dimensional IN chair with Trimension to respond to the diverse needs. Hybrid stools called Stitz prompt users to alternate between sitting and standing, while Confair folding tables and stackable Aline-S chairs are located in the conference spaces.
